How recipients receive a reward
There are two ways for a reward to reach a recipient.
- Email from Giftronaut. A Giftronaut recipient receives a reward email from Team Giftronaut (no-reply@giftronaut.com), clicks the redemption link, confirms their email address through a one-time verification step, and then accesses the redemption page. Giftronaut's one-time verification email is valid for 10 minutes. If it expires, the recipient can request a new one. If the sender uses White Label, the email and the verification and redemption pages show the sender’s logo and colors instead of Giftronaut’s.
- Reward link you deliver yourself. With the Download Reward Links option, you receive one unique link per reward and send it through your own channel, such as SMS, your own email, a CRM or chat. This does not require recipient details at order time, and email design, scheduling and deliverability are managed by your system. Each link is redeemable once, so treat it like a password. See Downloading a file with reward links. The feature must be enabled on your account.
Recipients do not need a Giftronaut account in either case.
What recipients see and choose for each reward type
Giftronaut rewards come in three types. What the recipient sees depends on the type you send.
| Reward type | Who chooses what | What the recipient sees |
|---|---|---|
| Choice Card | The recipient chooses the country, currency and brand or brands | The brands available in the chosen country, in the chosen currency |
| Branded Gift Card | The sender chooses the brand, country and currency when placing the order | The gift card for that brand, with its redemption instructions |
| Payout Options | The sender enables them on a Choice Card, or sends one directly; the recipient takes the reward as cash | Payout services such as PayPal or Venmo, and any redemption fee that applies |
On a Giftronaut Choice Card the recipient picks the brands themselves at redemption, and on a Branded Gift Card the brand is selected by the sender at order time. The Global Visa Reward Card is a brand within the catalog: depending on the recipient’s location, they can choose from gift cards issued in their country or global options such as the Global Visa Reward Card and Swype Global Virtual Mastercard.
A Giftronaut branded gift card cannot be exchanged for a different brand once the code has been revealed.
Payout Options carry a redemption fee, and who covers it is chosen when the order is placed. See Payout Options for the details.
Redeeming a Choice Card step by step
- Select a country and a currency. A Giftronaut Choice Card lets each recipient select their currency and choose from their local catalog. Gift cards are country-specific and cannot be converted from one country’s catalog to another, so recipients should select the country where they intend to use the reward.
- Choose the brands. A Giftronaut recipient can split one Choice Card reward across more than one brand, for example part Amazon and part Uber, instead of putting the whole amount on a single brand.
- Confirm the selection. Once a Giftronaut recipient confirms their Choice Card selection, the card is redeemed and cannot be changed or exchanged for a different brand.
- Copy the code. The gift card code and its redemption instructions appear on screen.
The reward page can be shown in the recipient’s language. See the questions below, or Sending gift cards in a recipient's language.
Coming back to a redeemed reward
If a recipient closes the page, they can return through the original reward email to view their codes again. This works even when the balance has been used up, and each gift card has a View Gift Card option with its details and any special redemption instructions. The click-by-click version for recipients is in Redeeming your gift card.
What can interrupt redemption
- The email does not arrive. Giftronaut reward emails are commonly held by corporate security filters, and the fix is to ask the recipient's IT team to allowlist no-reply@giftronaut.com and the giftronaut.com domain. See Didn’t receive your gift card?
- The email went to the wrong address. A Giftronaut recipient cannot change the email address their reward was sent to, and only the original sender can update the address and resend it. See Resending & correcting emails.
- A tax form appears. US recipients can be asked for a W-9 once their rewards reach a yearly threshold. See Understanding W-9 collection.
Where recipients get help
Recipients can use the chat box on the redemption page or email support@giftronaut.com. If the email never arrived or the address is wrong, the quickest route is the original sender, who can correct the address and resend the reward. Resending a Giftronaut reward email does not reduce the balance or create an extra charge, but multiple resends in a short period can trigger spam filters.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do recipients need an account to redeem a reward?
No. Recipients redeem from the email or link they receive. For emailed rewards they confirm their email address with a one-time code.
Can I send rewards without collecting recipient emails?
Yes, with reward links. You generate one link per reward and deliver it through your own channel. Contact your Giftronaut account representative or support@giftronaut.com to enable the feature.
Can recipients see the reward in their own language?
Yes. Giftronaut senders can have a recipient's reward email translated into any of 15 languages including Japanese, Vietnamese, Sinhala, and Malay. A recipient without an assigned language can still change the display language from a dropdown on the redemption page.
Can recipients choose cash instead of a gift card?
Yes, when you enable Payout Options on a Choice Card. Payout Options on Giftronaut, which let a recipient take the reward as cash through services such as PayPal and Venmo, are the one product type that carries a redemption fee.
What if a recipient closes the page before copying the code?
They can return through the original reward email and open the gift card again. See Coming back to a redeemed reward.
