A Giftronaut reward expires 180 days after sending and cannot be redeemed after that date. Once redeemed, the gift card has its own validity, set by the issuing brand. These are two separate stages with different dates. This guide explains how they differ and where to find each date.

Before redemption: the reward expiration date
Every Giftronaut reward has an expiration date. Standard rewards expire 180 days after sending, and an unredeemed reward cannot be redeemed after that date. The expiration date appears in the recipient’s reward email and on the reward page.
The Refund Option shortens that expiration date. When the Refund Option is enabled, the recipient’s redemption deadline is shortened from the standard 180 days to the selected 30-, 60-, or 90-day window. This deadline is shown in the recipient’s reward email.
Funds reclaimed through the Refund Option are automatically added to the available balance when the selected refund window closes. They appear in the Account Balance tab under the Refund status filter. For the rates, conditions and setup, see Giftronaut Refund Option.
After redemption: gift card validity
Once a Choice Card is redeemed for a specific brand, the brand’s terms apply. The Refund Option only returns funds from unredeemed rewards.
The validity period of each brand in Giftronaut's catalog is set by the issuing brand, not by Giftronaut. Most Giftronaut gift cards don't carry an expiration date.
Recipients can open their gift card again at any time from the original reward email to see its details and any special redemption instructions. For Visa prepaid cards, see International Visa gift cards and Redeeming a Visa gift card.
Working out which one applies
- The recipient has not redeemed the reward yet: the reward expiration date applies. It is shown in the reward email and on the reward page.
- The recipient has already chosen or revealed a gift card: the issuing brand’s validity and terms apply to that gift card.
- You want to be able to recover unredeemed value: the Refund Option must be selected when placing an order. It cannot be added or applied retroactively after the order has been sent.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long is a Giftronaut gift card valid?
It depends on the brand, because the issuing brand sets it. Giftronaut carries products with validity periods of 1, 2, 3, 6, and 12 months as well as 2 and 3 years, and some products that never expire.
Do Giftronaut rewards expire?
Yes. A standard reward expires 180 days after sending, and an unredeemed reward cannot be redeemed after its expiration date. The date appears in the recipient’s reward email and on the reward page.
Can I shorten the expiration date?
Yes, with the Refund Option, chosen when you place the order. It shortens the expiration to 30, 60 or 90 days. See Giftronaut Refund Option.
Can I get money back for rewards that are never redeemed?
Only with the Refund Option. The Giftronaut Refund Option returns up to 50% of the value of unredeemed rewards to the sender's balance, and the rate depends on the redemption window chosen for that order. Only fully unredeemed rewards are eligible for reclamation. Once a reward has been redeemed, even partially, it cannot be reclaimed through the Refund Option.
