What this combination does
Slack's MCP server gives your AI assistant access to your workspace — channels, messages, and users. Giftronaut MCP gives it access to your gift card catalog, recipients, and orders. Together, they let you turn a Slack conversation into a reward, without leaving the chat.
Common workflows include:
- Sending a gift when a manager posts a shout-out in a channel
- Rewarding everyone who reacts to an announcement with a specific emoji
- Confirming back in Slack once a gift has been sent

Before you start
You need both connected and confirmed working on their own before combining them.
For Giftronaut MCP:
- A Giftronaut developer account
- At least one active app, sandbox or production
- Giftronaut MCP connected to your AI client — see the Giftronaut MCP setup article
For Slack MCP:
- A Slack workspace with permission to enable Slack's official MCP server
- An MCP-compatible AI client — Slack's server works with several AI assistants, including Claude, ChatGPT, and Perplexity, each with its own connection steps

If Giftronaut MCP is already connected, confirm it's still working before proceeding:

- "List my most recent gift card orders."

Turn a manager's recognition post into a gift, without leaving Slack.
Example prompt

Reward everyone who reacts
Send a small thank-you to everyone who reacted positively to an announcement.

Confirm back in Slack
Post a confirmation once a gift or batch send goes out, so your team knows it's done.

"Once the gift cards are sent, post a summary in #giftronaut-alerts with how many were sent and the total amount."
Tips
Match by email. Ask your assistant to look up a Slack user's email before matching them to a recipient.
Work in batches. For large lists, preview a small subset first to verify the data before sending to everyone.
Use sandbox mode while building new workflows. No real gift cards are sent until you switch to production.
FAQs
Does the assistant automatically pull Slack data into Giftronaut?
No. Each MCP is a separate connection. The assistant can query both in one conversation, but it only cross-references them when your prompt asks it to.
What if a Slack user's email isn't in my Giftronaut recipient list yet?
Ask your assistant to create the missing recipient first: "Add [name]'s email as a Giftronaut recipient."
Does this work regardless of which Giftronaut environment I use?
Yes — sandbox or production, as long as the app you connected is active.
Does this work with any AI assistant?
It works with any AI assistant Slack officially supports for its MCP server. Check Slack's guide for the current list.
Where can I see activity from both tools?
Giftronaut MCP activity is logged in your Giftronaut request log dashboard. Slack connector activity appears in your workspace's installed apps settings.
