Giftronaut offers gift cards that work internationally, reaching 225 countries through local and global options. If you are sending rewards to people in more than one country, the main thing to understand is that most gift cards are tied to the country they were issued for. This article explains what your recipients can actually receive, how to choose, and what to watch for.

What can my recipients receive?
Giftronaut reaches 225 countries through a combination of local gift cards and global prepaid options. Depending on the recipient’s location, they can choose from gift cards issued in their country or global options such as the Global Visa Reward Card and Swype Global Virtual Mastercard.
Giftronaut offers local gift cards in 71 countries. Where a local catalog isn’t available, recipients can choose from supported global reward options instead.
| Local gift cards | Global prepaid cards | |
|---|---|---|
| Countries covered | 71 | Global Visa Reward Card: 225 Swype Global Virtual Mastercard: 202 |
| What the recipient chooses | Brands issued in their own country | Spend anywhere the card network is accepted |
| Currency | Their local currency | USD |
| When it applies | Recipient is in a country with a local catalog | Recipient is anywhere else Giftronaut reaches |
You do not choose between these yourself. The right option appears for each recipient based on where they are when they redeem.
Can a gift card be used in another country?
Giftronaut gift cards are country-specific and cannot be redeemed in another country, even when the same brand is available there. Brands such as Amazon, Uber, PlayStation, Airbnb, and Apple have separate country-specific products. For example, an Amazon.co.uk gift card cannot be redeemed on Amazon.com in the United States.
This is a property of the gift cards themselves, not a Giftronaut restriction. A retailer issues a separate card for each market it operates in, and each one is only valid where it was issued. The practical consequence is that you cannot buy one batch of cards and send it everywhere.
What if I do not know where my recipients are?
This is the common case for survey panels, referral programmes and distributed teams, and it has a straightforward answer.
Giftronaut’s Choice Card eliminates the need to select a country catalog when placing an order. Instead, recipients select their country at redemption and choose from the rewards available there.
You set one amount, send one reward, and each person lands in the right catalog on their own. It is usually the right default for any send that crosses more than one border.
What if there is no local gift card in my recipient’s country?
Not every country Giftronaut reaches has a locally issued gift card, and a recipient in one of those countries can be rewarded with a global product instead: the Global Visa Reward Card, which can be used in 225 countries, or the Swype Global Virtual Mastercard, which can be used in 202.
These are open-loop prepaid cards rather than brand gift cards, so the recipient spends them anywhere the network is accepted rather than at one retailer. For a sender, nothing changes: you place the same order and the right option appears for that recipient.
Are there fees for international recipients?
Standard gift cards and prepaid cards on Giftronaut carry no redemption fee unless the issuing brand's own terms state otherwise. Your recipient receives the full face value of what you sent.
The exception is a Payout Option, where a recipient takes the reward as cash through a service such as PayPal or Venmo. Those carry a redemption fee: 4% with a minimum of $0.25 per recipient when the sender covers it, and 6% with a minimum of $1 per recipient when the recipient covers it.
Which countries can Giftronaut not send to?
Giftronaut blocks access from 12 countries covered by US sanctions: Afghanistan, Cuba, Iran, Iraq, North Korea, Libya, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Syria, Venezuela, and Yemen.
None of these countries has any product in the live catalog, so you cannot select one by mistake when placing an order.
Separately, some countries require enablement on your account before branded cards appear at checkout. If a country you expect is missing from the dropdown, contact support@giftronaut.com and we will look at it.

Frequently asked questions
Is there a gift card that works internationally?
Yes. The Global Visa Reward Card can be used in 225 countries, and the Swype Global Virtual Mastercard in 202. Both are prepaid cards rather than brand gift cards, so they are accepted wherever the card network is.
Do I need to know where my recipients are before I send?
You don’t need to know the recipient’s location when sending a Choice Card. They select their country and currency when they redeem the reward.
Can a US company fund in USD but send gift cards in euros?
Yes. A Giftronaut sender can send a Choice Card directly in USD, CAD, GBP, EUR, DKK, AUD, or AED, and the recipient can still convert it to a different currency at redemption.
Which countries are not supported?
A country is unavailable on Giftronaut for one of two separate reasons: it is blocked under US sanctions, or it simply has no gift card listed in the catalog for that country. The 12 sanctioned countries are listed above. A country with no local catalog is still reachable with a global prepaid card.
Is there a minimum amount for sending a gift card internationally?
The minimum depends on the product, not on where you are sending it. Every Giftronaut product can be sent for any amount between a minimum and a maximum set by the issuing brand, in fixed increments. Among products issued in USD, roughly three quarters have a minimum face value of $5.
Can international recipients see the reward in their own language?
Yes. Giftronaut senders can have a recipient's reward email translated into any of 15 languages including Japanese, Vietnamese, Sinhala, and Malay. A recipient without an assigned language can still change the display language from a dropdown on the redemption page.
