Cash Options let recipients redeem their reward as cash through supported services such as PayPal and Venmo. They can be offered in two ways:
- Giftronaut Choice Card – Add Cash Options alongside the available gift cards, giving recipients the choice of either.
- Branded Gift Cards – Send a Cash Option directly as the reward, without offering other redemption choices.
Unlike standard gift cards, Cash Options include a redemption fee. When creating your order, you'll choose whether you or the recipient covers that fee.
Cash Options with the Giftronaut Choice Card
When sending a Choice Card, you can optionally enable Cash Options.
Recipients can then choose between:
- Gift cards
- Cash Options (such as PayPal or Venmo)
If you cover the fee
The fee is added to your order total for every recipient, even if they ultimately redeem a gift card instead of a Cash Option.
This is because recipients are free to choose any available redemption option, including Cash Options. The fee is charged upfront to cover that flexibility.
Recipients always receive the full reward amount, regardless of what they redeem.
If the recipient covers the fee
No fee is charged when you place the order.
If a recipient chooses a Cash Option, the redemption fee is deducted from their reward.
If they choose a regular gift card instead, no fee applies, and they redeem the full reward amount.
Sending Cash Options Directly
You can also send a Cash Option directly from the Branded Gift Cards section.
Since every recipient receives a Cash Option, the redemption fee always applies.
If you cover the fee
The redemption fee is added to your order total.
Recipients receive the full reward amount.
If the recipient covers the fee
The redemption fee is deducted from the reward.
Recipients receive the reward amount minus the applicable fee.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why am I paying the fee for recipients who don't choose cash?
When you send a Giftronaut Choice Card, recipients are free to choose any available redemption option. Because Giftronaut can't know what they'll choose when you place the order, the redemption fee is charged upfront for every recipient if Cash Options are enabled.
Do gift cards have redemption fees?
No. Standard gift cards and prepaid cards don't have a redemption fee unless otherwise stated in that brand's terms.
Can I disable Cash Options?
Yes. If you don't want recipients to redeem rewards as cash, simply leave Cash Options disabled when sending a Choice Card.
Can I send only Cash Options?
Yes. You can send a Cash Option directly from the Branded Gift Cards tab.
